Inheritance Tax

Inheritance tax (IHT) has long been seen as a rich-man's problem. However, with the threshold at which IHT applies having risen by 16% over the last 5 years while house price inflation has reached 60%, this is no longer the case.

The impact of this is that the threshold has, in real terms, steadily reduced, and IHT is now potentially an issue for the 1.6 million UK homeowners with net worth of £275,000.

Contrary to what some might think, however, IHT is one of the most avoidable of taxes, given the right advice.
